Retinoblastoma is a malignant tumor arising from the embryonic neural retina and is the most common intraocular tumor of childhood, occurring in approximately 1 in 14,000-18,000 live births. Current therapeutic options for retinoblastoma have improved its prognosis considerably in recent decades to the point of not only directing treatment to save the patient's life, but also aiming to save the eye and preserve vision.
